Destruction of Europe Imminent!
The destruction of Europe is imminent! Great devastation and earth shattering events are about to unfold. As dramatic as this sounds, the actual events that have put the circumstances in motion that will culminate in this cataclysmic event were precipitated centuries ago. Beginning with the fall of the Babylonian Empire and the destruction of successive dominating world powers the time clock of Prophetic Events have been marching forward with such exacting precision that no reasonable man can simply ignore them any longer.
Daniel’s Second Prophecy Fullfilled:
As the Jewish Prophet Daniel continued to live in Babylon and see over the provinces put under his governance by King Nebuchadnezzer, he never ceased from service and worshipping the God of Israel. In later years Nebuchadnezzer was succeeded by other Babylonian Kings and Daniel served them all. Many years later Scripture says in Daniel 7:1 that “In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.”
As we examine this vision and its significance we will see further details emerge regarding the first vision that this faithful man of God had seen many years earlier as a young man. (see earlier entry: Value of Israeli Stock Reaches Record) Now we will look and see whether these prophecies add to the value of scriptural stock or whether they are nothing more than idle speculation. Here is the written record of the first portion of Daniel’s second dream as recorded in the Old Testament:
Dan7:1-8 “In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters. Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heavens strove upon the great sea. And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made to stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.
And behold another beast, a second, like unto a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.
After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots”
So here Daniel has a second dream that reveals things that are to come to pass. Closer examination of the scriptures reveals exactly what the vision truly means.
Daniel 7: 2, 3, "Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea. And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another."
Here we are told that “Four” beasts come up. Could these four be the same as the four kingdoms already predicted by the vision of the great image of gold, silver, brass, iron and clay given in Daniel Chapter 2? Close inspection and by allowing the scriptures to interpret themselves we soon find this to be unmistakable.
Verse 3 says, "Four great beasts came up." So what do the beasts represent in prophecy? The answer is found later in verse 17 whereby an Angel gives Daniel the answer, "These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth." Then verse 23 says, "Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon the earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces."
Therefore the first four beasts represent the first four kings and their kingdoms! Clearly, as we will see, the “sea” from where the beasts arise represent multitudes of people from which these national kingdoms arise.
Notice the practice of beasts being representative of Kingdoms. In fact we still follow this convention today – animals are used to represent kingdoms. America is represented by the American bald eagle, Russia the bear, and China the dragon etc.
These Scriptures say then that four kingdoms will come up. Today it is a fact that since the days of Babylon when Daniel wrote his book there have been only four world kingdoms in control of the Jewish nation. The same world kingdoms that we have already examined in Daniel Chapter 2. But let's now look closer and see if more details are revealed in this vision:
Daniel 7:4, "The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it."
Who was this first empire? Babylon, as already seen, represented by the king of beasts. Wings, in prophecy are representative of speed as seen in Habakkuk 1:8: “Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat.”
Babylon, as confirmed by historical records began to rule in 606 B.C. This prophecy begins where the last prophecy did, with Babylon and the kingdom Daniel was then living in. In Scripture Babylon is referred to as a winged lion. Archeologist have uncovered the ruins of ancient Babylon in Iraq and have discovered what we can still see today as many winged lions carved on the walls of that ancient city. Clearly Babylon used as its national symbol a winged lion! Therefore the Head of Gold and the Lion with Eagles Wings both represent the Kingdom of Babylon.
Daniel 7:5, "And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh."
Here the second empire is revealed. The Bear replacing the Lion. As previously noted Medo-Persia, "raised up on one side" came and captured Babylon under the leadership of Cyrus. The Medo-Persians came up as a joint empire, however, the Persians were stronger than the Medes; thus, symbolically we see that it is raised up on one side showing the difference in strength between the two sides. The three ribs no doubt symbolize the three Babylonian provinces it conquered when subduing the then known world - Babylonia, Egypt and Lydia. Medio-Persia ruled from 538-331 B.C. Again, just about any encyclopedia confirms this. Thus the Bear in prophecy is the same Medo-Persian kingdom previously shown also to be represented by the breasts and arms of silver in the great image of Daniel’s first vision.
Daniel 7:6, "After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it."
In 331 B.C. this third beast rose to power. As already shown in the discussion of Daniel 2, Greece conquered Medo-Persia and subsequently replaced it as the third kingdom. In this vision however, further details are given. It had four wings representing double speed, a fitting expression of the swiftness by which Alexander the Great conquered the world, and established the empire of Greece. Alexander conquered the world in only a few years using rapidly advancing warfare and fast pursuit to defeat his prey. Yet after such rapid conquest and at the peak of his life Alexander died in a drunken stupor at the age of 32 with apparently nothing more left to conquer. Subsequent to his death his kingdom was divided into four parts. The four heads of the leopard like beast no doubt represent the four territories after Alexander's death, divided by his four generals. As a fact of history the Northern territory went to Lysimachus; to the South, Ptolemy; to the East, Seleucus; and to the West, Cassander. Clearly it is Greece that is represented by the Winged Leopard and the Belly and Thighs of Brass as seen in Daniel’s first vision and second vision. Thus, Greece ruled from 331 - 168 B.C. when another Kingdom arose and took its place.
Daniel 7:7, "After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns."
This fourth beast was a strange beast. Daniel had never seen anything like this beast before! He had spent time with lions, seen leopards, and bears, but this was one was horrible and strange! This terrible looking beast was the fourth kingdom to rise upon the world.
(verse 23), "Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon the earth, which shall be diverse from all the kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces." We know already that the kingdom that conquered Greece was Rome, which ruled from 168 B.C. to 476 A.D. But, what about the 10 horns on this fourth beast; what do they represent? Can Scripture and history unite to reveal something more about this?
Daniel 7:24, "And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings."
Thus, the 10 horns were 10 kings. We discovered in the previous chapters that when Rome fell, it divided into 10 parts as the Barbarian tribes swept in. Those 10 tribes were Alamanni (Germany), the Visigoths (Spain), the Franks (France), the Suevi (Portugal), the Burgundians (Switzerland), the Anglo Saxons (England), and the Lombards (Italy). Yet History tells us that three of the original 10 no longer exist: the Ostrogoths, Vandals and Heruli.
Daniel 7:8, tells us why. "I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were THREE of the first horns plucked up by the roots”
Here we find that another Kingdom arises among the 10 and eliminates these three kingdoms. Any encyclopedia will detail the demise of the Ostrogoths, Vandals and Heruli from out of Europe. If you look for a "Little Kingdom" in Europe that came up among these 10 divisions I am certain you will see how even more precise Daniel's vision actually is. History tells us that the wars fought to achieve the loose association of nations within the Holy Roman Empire resulted in the complete annihilation of these three kingdoms, thus fulfilling Prophecy precisely as foretold. The Ostrogoths, Vandals, and Heruli no longer exist.
From the amazing accuracy and detail of these visions given by God, it would seem that the Jewish Prophet was quite accurate in his foretelling of the future of kingdoms that would rise and fall upon the world stage of history. Yet, in Daniel Chapter 7 the Prophet says something else that also appears to be of Great Significance:
Dan7:13,14 “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought Him near before Him. And there was given Him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve Him: His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.”
Here Daniel foretells the coming Kingdom of God upon this Earth; the One that will replace all the kingdoms as foretold in the two visions of Daniel Chapters 2 and 7. Yet Daniel mentions something different, something worth considering; another important detail. Daniel says “One like the Son of Man”.
Who is this “One like the Son of Man” Whom God will apparently give to rule over the world forever? This is a question that should be of great interest to every Jew and to every non-Jew as well, since already it has been shown that this coming Kingdom may be imminent! Daniel has called it perfectly for the past 2500 years. As we have seen every bit of the previous two prophecies has occurred; all except the final coming of God’s Kingdom!
Those who do not already know may discover who this “One like the Son of Man” is in yet another amazing prophecy whereby Daniel reveals the exact year in which this Man will come! This Prophecy being one of the most amazing held within the pages of the Bible for it gives exact dates that a number of incredible events will unmistakably occur. Daniel's Prophecies have almost all come to pass. He declares when this final King comes all other kingdoms will be destroyed. Europe as well as the rest of the world's kingdoms are clearly on borrowed time. There destruction is imminent.
